Well, it’s Christmas Day 2018. And I’ve re-decided (if you can say that) this site is a good idea. My original plan was to make a site for the lab that we had immediate control of and could use for a more personal view of our work, as well as keeping pages where users can check our performance and the progress of their work. It stalled when CERTAIN users failed to have any interest. But it is a web-master’s duty to act as a benevolent dictator and steer their clients forward whether they want to or not…
I have been back in Canberra for 2 days after my return from Switzerland and Michigan State University. The plan is to provide Berkley Walker at MSU with an improved version of the laser inlet system and software that we run here. I was in East Lansing for 12 days and covered a lot of ground but didn’t finish the job because we ran into various problems. I am confidant of completing the work soon.
In Basel, Switzerland, I visited Meisha Holloway-Phillips who recently left our group and looked over the mass spec lab there. Everything was Swiss-neat and I am inspired to try for significant improvements here. In particular, our lab is filled with mass spec junk which needs to be moved to a STORAGE area. I was very impressed by Basel, if nothing else because I’d come immediately from the rather different East Lansing!
